Andy Junker, born in 1971, studied business administration at Saarland University after completing a banking apprenticeship and earned his doctorate on tax-based company acquisition models under Prof. Dr. Heinz Kußmaul. He began his professional career in 2001 in the transaction department of an international auditing firm, most recently as an authorized signatory and tax advisor.

In 2006, his career led him to the htw saar, where he assumed numerous positions in the university's internal administration. In 2011 he was a visiting professor at the Business School of Southern Oregon University, Ashland, Oregon, USA, and in 2016 at the Business School of the Universal College of Learning, Palmerston North, New Zealand. In January 2017, he was appointed Vice President for Academic and International Affairs. He was elected for a further term of three years in February 2021 (until March 3, 2024).

Andy Junker is married, has two children and lives in Saarbrücken.
