The School of Social Sciences runs a broad range of bilateral cooperative activities with universities within and outside of Europe. Like htw saar, these universities are committed to the idea of sharing knowledge and ideas between higher education institutions working in the field of the social sciences. As part of these academic exchange programmes, invited foreign researchers and academics give talks, lecture courses and seminars at htw saar, while academics from htw saar hold guest lectureships abroad.
Students at the School of Social Sciences have the opportunity to undertake a study abroad period – either as part of an established academic exchange programme (ERASMUS, summer schools, etc.) or independently as a ‘free mover’.
An outstanding feature of the international activities at the School of Social Sciences is the ‘Drei Länder Summer School: Germany-Luxembourg-Switzerland’, which is a collaborative initiative between htw saar, Bern University of Applied Sciences and the Université du Luxembourg. The summer school was first held in 2013 when it was hosted by the School of Social Sciences at htw saar (Department of Social Work and Early Childhood).
