At the htw saar, there are two staff councils that represent employees' interests. The Academic Staff Council and the Administrative-Technical Staff Council.

The staff council of the administrative-technical staff consists of eight employee members and one representative of the civil servant group. The members and contact persons, as well as current information, can be found on the intranet(German-language).

Academic employees are represented by seven members on the Staff Council. You can find the contact persons on the intranet (German-language).

The responsibilities of the staff councils

As staff councils, we represent the interests of the employees vis-à-vis their superiors and the university management. The two staff councils have a right of co-determination in all important personnel measures such as hiring, dismissals, transfers, upgrading or regrouping, duration, start and end of daily working hours, measures for the prevention of occupational accidents and other health hazards.

In this context, the councils ensure that all employees and applicants are treated equally and that the applicable laws and regulations are observed. A key task of the staff councils is to receive employee complaints and to work together with them to find possible solutions. Every employee has the right to consult the respective staff council for advice on problems related to his or her employment. The members of the staff councils are bound to secrecy during consultations and will naturally treat any such matters confidentially.
